I’ve been in cells with nothing but concrete walls and regret for company.

But even in the dark, I had a vision—a picture of the man I could become.

How to Lock in Your Destination (Even When Life’s On Fire):

1. Write the Goal in Ink, Not Pencil
Your goal isn’t a “maybe.” It’s a must. Declare it. Define it. Detail it.

Example: “I will build a business that replaces my 9–5 within 12 months.”

2. Reverse Engineer It
Work backwards. What must be true 90 days before? 30 days? This week? Today?
Action = Certainty.

3. Build an Anchor Routine

When you’ve been locked down 23 times in the most brutal prison blocks in the country, peace isn’t just a nice idea — it becomes your only weapon.

In a concrete box no bigger than a bathroom — 4x4 metres, steel toilet, no sunlight, no sound — I discovered freedom.

Not the kind they hand you at the gate...
But the kind you build inside your own mind.

I created my own version of yoga:
The 4x4 Prison Cell Method

4 seconds INHALE

4 seconds EXHALE

For 4 minutes straight

No mat. No music. No incense.
Just breath. Rhythm. Focus. Stillness.
And a vow: “I won’t let the chaos out there destroy the calm in here.”

The Science Backs It:

A Harvard study (Goyal et al., JAMA Internal Medicine) found that meditation significantly reduces anxiety, depression, and pain — often as effectively as antidepressants.

Yoga and breathing techniques activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing cortisol (the stress hormone) and increasing GABA (a neurotransmitter tied to calm and emotional control).

A 2020 study in Frontiers in Psychology revealed that even 10 minutes of controlled breathing a day can improve attention span and emotional resilience — even in high-stress environments.

Here’s how I broke free — and how YOU can too:

THE 4-WALL BREAKOUT STRATEGY

1. FEAR — “Name It to Tame It”

Fear grows in silence. Write it down. Label it. Then ask:
“What is this fear trying to teach me?”
When I feared change, it meant I was meant to lead.
Action: Write down 3 fears. Then take one small action against each.
Fear hates movement. MOVE.

2. ANXIETY — “Ground the Mind, Anchor the Breath”

I used to pace cells filled with regret. Now I sit in peace.
Breathe in 4, hold 4, breathe out 4, pause 4. (Box Breathing)

Action: Do this before every meeting, tough convo, or high-pressure moment.
Calm mind. Clear decisions.

3. PROCRASTINATION — “Eat the Frog First”

You’re not lazy. You’re overwhelmed.
Each day, do the hardest task first thing.
Action: Write today’s ONE thing. No escape. No delay. Win early.
That momentum? It’ll carry you through walls.

4. OVERTHINKING — “Decide or Stay Dying”

Overthinking is self-doubt dressed in logic.
Perfection is the enemy of progress.
Action: Set a 2-minute decision timer. Decide fast, act faster.
The longer you wait, the heavier the weight.

I built peace not in silence but in discipline.
You don’t need more time. You need more courage.
You don’t need to “fix” your mindset. You need to use it.

3. BURN THE BRIDGE BACK
Tell your circle. Cut the excuses. Block the temptations. Create so much accountability you can’t slide without someone calling it.

4. REWIRE YOUR NARRATIVE
What story are you telling yourself? Reframe it. Instead of “I’ve always been like this,” say “I’ve survived worse—I’m evolving.”

5. ACT ‘AS IF’ DAILY
Don’t wait to feel ready. Move as if you already are. Integrity starts with alignment between thoughts, words, and actions.

FEAR IS A LIAR. HERE’S HOW TO BEAT IT.

I didn’t just face fear—I slept beside it in prison cells and walked through it in bank vaults.

But it wasn’t until I faced my own mind that I realised the real jail was never behind bars—it was in my thoughts.

If you want freedom, stop negotiating with fear. It’s not your friend. It’s the dealer keeping you broke, scared, and stuck.

Here’s the 5-STEP FEAR BREAKOUT PLAN:

1. NAME THE ENEMY
Fear thrives in the dark. Name it out loud. “I’m afraid of failing,” “I’m scared of judgment.” Drag it into the light—it loses power fast.

2. FLIP THE NARRATIVE
Instead of “what if it all goes wrong?” ask: “what if it all goes RIGHT?” Train your brain to expect the win.

3. ACT SMALL, THINK BIG
Fear feeds on inaction. So move. Make the call. Send the email. Say the thing. Progress slaps fear in the face.

4. ANCHOR IN PURPOSE
When I shifted from survival to service—from robbing banks to building leaders—fear had no grip. Purpose dissolves doubt.

5. STACK EVIDENCE
Every time you act despite fear, you build a new identity: one of courage. Log your wins. Watch who you become.

I didn’t beat fear because I’m special.
